The impact today from racism in the Progressive Era is huge. The kinds of things that came out of the Progressive Era made changes in the world today. Yes most of the things that happened in those times where bad. People where usually sexist or racist or a combination of the two. Things like this are awful and unimaginable in today’s society. But because these things happened we now understand why they are wrong and how we can fix them if it ever comes up again. Lynching or hanging was a way of killing a man, woman or child because he was of a different race. Out of Progressivism came laws to prevent the lynching of anyone for any reason unless done by the court system. Segregation of people because of race was also something bad that was in the Progressive Era, and out of that came the Civil Rights Act stating that it was unlawful to segregate any person because of color, race, or creed in most public places, like restaurants, hospitals, public restrooms and means of transportation. In America today there is not one place that is segregated and I for one am happy about that. People where mean, rude, vulgar, and discriminatory during this period of time and now that it is over most people know that every man and woman, no matter what color is equal to one another. There is still racism alive and well today in most places. There are still a lot of people living in this world who hate people because of the color of their skin, but because of the mistakes we made along the way with racism and hatred we now know that it is wrong and anyone who is still racist should be punished.
